How Orlistat Works
Used to treat obesity in individuals at risk because of pre-existing conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol/triglycerides, the active ingredient in Xenical is orlistat. Orlistat works by preventing the fat in foods from absorbing into your body. You must take orlistat with a specially designed meal plan to ensure the success of the treatment plan. Generic Xenical vs Brand Xenical
Brand xenical and generic orlistat are chemically and therapeutically the same, the only difference is the manufacturer. Please note that Xenical is a product for which a prescription is required. Orlistat Possible side effects

• Stomach pain, vomiting

Other side effects of Xenical that have been reported include back pain, headache, mild skin rash, problems with teeth/gums, symptoms of cold or flu, Please note that the preceding lists of allergic reactions and side effects are not necessarily an exhaustive list. Orlistat Guidelines
If you are pregnant, it is not recommended that you take Xenical as weight loss during pregnancy should be avoided, even if you are already overweight. Additionally, you should not take Xenical if you have a history of gallbladder problems or have been diagnosed with chronic malabsorption syndrome - the inability to properly absorb food and nutrients. Talk with your doctor prior to taking Xenical and tell her/him of any pre-existing conditions you might have. Some significant conditions that are known to react negatively with Orlistat include an underactive thyroid, a history of gallstones, pancreatitis, type 1 or 2 diabetes, an eating disorder, and liver or kidney disease.
