How Lansoprazole Works
Prevacid (Lansoprazole) belongs to a group of medications known as monoamine depleting agents. Lansoprazole is the active medicinal ingredient found in Prevacid Rx and Prevacid OTC. Both versions of this medication work exactly the same; the only difference is the strength of the medication. These medications work by slowing down the production of acid in the stomach. It is primarily used to treat stomach ulcers, intestinal ulcers, acid reflux and gastroesophageal reflux or GERD. Lansoprazole 15mg can be taken with or without a doctor’s prescription and is to be taken as directed by reading the dosing instruction carefully. Lansoprazole capsule or fastab are to be taken exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Lansoprazole may be taken alone or in combination with antibiotics to treat certain ulcers.
