Brand name: Aggrenox, Asasantin Retard
Generic name: Aspirin and Dipyridamole, Arreno
Used for: Inflammation reduction
Availability: brand Aggrenox and generic Dipyridamole/ASA 200/25 mg capsules
How Aggrenox Works
Aggrenox contains two active ingredients - aspirin and dipyridamole. Aspirin belongs to a group of drugs called salicylates which work by reducing pain, fever and inflammation in the body, while dipyridamole prevent platelets in the blood from sticking together and forming clots. Aggrenox’s dosage form is that of 25 mg aspirin and 200 mg dipyridamole, and is used to reduce the risk of stroke in individuals who have had blood clots or who have experienced a ‘mini-stroke’ (transient ischemic attack, or TIA).
Generic Dipyridamole vs Brand Aggrenox
The brand and the generic aggrenox is chemically and therapeutically the same. The only difference is the manufacturer. We currently have the brand from Uk manufactured by Boehringer Ingelheim and the generic from India (Arreno) by Intas Pharma. It may come from other countries around the world.

Dipyridamole Precautions
Prior to taking Aggrenox, be sure to tell your doctor of all drugs you are currently taking, or if you have any of the following conditions: a bleeding disorder such as hemophilia; liver disease; heart disease, congestive heart failure, or recent heart attack; kidney disease; low blood pressure; asthma; nasal polyps, or a history of allergies to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as Advil or Motrin.
